Data from any source

Alteryx accesses spatial and non-spatial data from any source, in a wide range of formats, then standardizes and analyzes it more quickly & accurately than any conventional technology.

Alteryx reads and standardizes a wide range of data formats, faster and more accurately than any other technology on the market – transactional databases, spatially-enabled databases, data warehouses, flat files, spatial data formats, or spreadsheets. Alteryx also provides broad connectivity via standard interfaces (ODBC, OLEDB) to many source databases and their associated file formats.

The flexibility of the Alteryx data options lets you define best-practice applications and deploy them globally. Alteryx also integrates your internal data with the external data sources of your choice. Many commonly used datasets come pre-installed with Alteryx, thanks to ongoing licensing agreements with leading data providers.

Syndicated data

The syndicated datasets that come pre-installed with Alteryx are seamlessly integrated and optimized for immediate use. This enables high-speed data output and querying that can’t be matched using conventional technology. The Alteryx library of syndicated data is quite broad – coverage includes the U.S. and more than 29 other countries.

Many vertical market data sets are available from Alteryx, thorough its extensive third-party licensing agreements:

  • Household-level consumer lists
  • Consumer record lists by household
  • Business lists (by size and industry)
  • Consumer lifestyle and behavior patterns
  • Traffic counts
  • Industry packaged data, such as restaurant spending patterns by location
  • Current Year (CY) & Five Year (5Y) demographic estimates by projection, updated quarterly or biannually
  • International packages for 29 countries, including China and India

The Alteryx spatial option

One particularly important collection of datasets – the Alteryx Spatial option – is available for both Alteryx desktop or Alteryx server. The standard Alteryx engine includes an entire library of tools for analyzing your own spatial data. The Spatial option quickly adds demographic, cartographic and geographic data to the standard spatial toolkit, for your immediate analysis of any variety of spatial data – latitude/longitude, address, city, state, county, ZIP code boundary, census tracts, block groups, etc.

  • Spatial coordinates to define any geographic location: Tools and data for geocoding addresses, address cleansing, standardization (using CASS), and appending ZIP+4 information
  • Cartographic data for map visualization: Street reference layers for atlas-quality mapping – over 50 high-quality U.S. map layers are included, along with information about interstate highways, local roads, lakes and parks
  • Boundary files and U.S. Census data, for demographic analysis
    • Geographic boundary files define areas and points, including cities, counties, census tracts, postal routes (ZIPs), marketing (DMAs), metro/micro CBSAs, blockgroups and congressional districts. These boundary files are included for fast retrieval & tabulation of census data (and other datasets, available separately)
    • U.S. Census data is included and pre-optimized for rapid analysis using either included or imported geography definitions
  • Drivetime calculations: Modules for calculating drivetimes and distances from source-to-destination points, and to define trade areas based on drivetimes
