New 2010 U.S. Census data now available from Strategic Analytics solution provider Alteryx

Irvine, CA – December 14, 2011Alteryx Inc., the leading provider of Strategic Analytics, has announced the second phase of availability of 2010 Census data, Summary File 1 or SF 1. Alteryx is the sole provider of software and analytic content used by the U.S. Census Bureau to store, package, distribute and speed analysis of its 2010 data. Alteryx was selected by the Bureau, as no other competitive solution could match the data compression, spatial analysis, or ease-of-use requirements needed for SF 1.

In May 2011, Alteryx delivered the first phase of U.S. population data, known as Public Law 94 (PL94), through hosted Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and ”Desktop-to-Cloud” offerings that accelerate data reporting and analytics.

“Our relationship with the U.S. Census Bureau spans 10 years. We were the first commercial company selected to package and distribute U.S. Census data in 2000,” said Amy Holland, Vice President of Product Management at Alteryx. “Since then, we’ve worked with the U.S. Census Bureau and our users to make our software experience even more effective for data artisans. Our Strategic Analytics platform makes it easy to pull together all shapes of data from many different sources to build analytic applications – without burdening IT.”

The release of the second phase of 2010 U.S. Census data is compelling in that it includes ethnographic insight as well as family, household, and housing unit details. A key differentiator of the SF 1 release is the ability to track the changing dynamics of the American household. The Alteryx technology enables constituents of the Bureau to receive the 2010 data in a highly compressed format. It is then bundled with powerful geospatial searching and analysis software, speeding the data user’s ability to obtain deep insights.

Alteryx has made the most recent 2010 U.S. Census SF 1 data accessible as an Alteryx dataset install and with DemographicsNow. The current release of SF 1 data is a collection of 3,100 core population characteristics relied upon by thousands of marketing and planning professionals. Alteryx packages the SF 1 data with core Alteryx technology for a fast and simplified analytic processing experience.

“We are an active user of Alteryx technology and the integration of Decennial Census data is critical in our political consulting practice, especially with the 2012 elections just around the corner,” said Drew Brighton, Principal of TargetSmart Communications, a Washington D.C.-based political consulting and marketing agency. “The Census Bureau has now advanced the ability to consume and analyze critical demographic content by distributing the information with Alteryx technology. We view this as a huge win for any organization needing to create analytics and make decisions based on the 2010 Census data base. This makes our work around integrating this massive database very simple.”

The third and final phase of the 2010 U.S. Census data, Summary File 2 or SF 2, is slated for release in the spring of 2012.
