Alteryx hires Analytics Platform leader and former Oracle executive Rick Schultz as Senior Vice President, Marketing

Enterprise software marketing leader brings experience scaling businesses to leading strategic analytics provider; joins recent executive additions from SAP and Microsoft

Irvine, CA – April 3, 2012 – Alteryx, Inc., the leading provider of Strategic Analytics software, today announced that Rick Schultz has joined its executive team as senior vice president of marketing. Based in the San Francisco Bay area, Schultz will lead all marketing activities for Alteryx and report directly to Alteryx President and Chief Operating Officer George Mathew.

Schultz brings to Alteryx more than 17 years of experience leading marketing teams and operations in enterprise software. Most recently, Schultz was the vice president of product marketing for Oracle’s Technology Software business, a growing business with over $6.5 billion in annual license revenue and spanning Database, Analytics, Big Data and Application Platform. While there, he headed a 60-person technology product marketing team and also led Oracle’s cloud computing initiative. Schultz joins an Alteryx management team with several other key executive additions from industry leaders such as SAP and Microsoft during the last year.

“The addition of Rick, another executive to join Alteryx from a major software company, demonstrates our continued growth as we create a differentiated, impactful brand,” said Mathew. “Rick understands the demands of a building fast-growing businesses; his strong background in business intelligence, data integration, Big Data, and the cloud will further boost our leadership in the analytics market.”

Mark Smith, chief executive officer and chief research officer of Ventana Research, discussed Alteryx in his recent analysis of the company and products, ‘Alteryx’s Business Analytics Empowers New Generation of Data Artisans.’ According to Smith, “This software is already miles ahead of what the majority of analysts use today, whether it’s spreadsheets, business intelligence or aging GIS products that do not satisfy the data and analytics demands of businesses. Organizations that want to dramatically improve the efficiency of their analysts and reduce the cycle time to iterate analysis should evaluate Alteryx.”

“Alteryx has taken a unique and innovative approach in the rapidly growing Analytics market,” said Schultz. “Compared to other providers, Alteryx makes it incredibly simple to access and combine any type of data from corporate data warehouses to a wide-range of unstructured data sources including social media. It’s the perfect product for enabling data analysts and advanced analysts – “Data Artisans” – to rapidly build and iterate on analytic applications that drive better and faster decisions.”

Schultz spent more than 10 years at Oracle building new brands and businesses such as Oracle Fusion Middleware, and more recently, Oracle’s line of Engineered Systems, such as Oracle Exadata and Oracle Exalytics. Prior to Oracle he led Java Platform and Application Server marketing at Sun Microsystems.

Rick holds a Bachelor of Science in finance from the University of California, Berkeley, where he graduated from the Walter A. Haas School of Business.
