Alteryx And Microsoft Make Self-Service Data Analytics Easier To Gain Deeper Insights And Scale Analytics In The Cloud

Alteryx Joins the Microsoft Azure Marketplace as a Leading Platform for Self-Service Data Analytics

Bellevue, WA. — March 22, 2016 – Alteryx, Inc., the leader in self-service data analytics, today announced an extended relationship with Microsoft Corp., to empower data analysts with a better way to easily prepare, blend and analyze data using Alteryx Designer in a pre-configured virtual machine that will run on Microsoft Azure. Alteryx Designer is available for instant access and enables data analysts to utilize a drag-and-drop workflow to gain deeper insights in hours, not weeks. Analysts can take advantage of the cloud-computing power offered on Azure to scale performance of their data prep, data blending, and analytic processing tasks, thus enabling them to perform more complex operations and reduce time to insight.

“Alteryx continues to be the go-to platform for self-service data analytics,” said Paul Ross, Vice President of International and Channel Marketing at Alteryx, Inc. “Similar to the Alteryx and Microsoft Power BI integration, now Alteryx and Microsoft will make it easier for data analysts to blend data, perform predictive and spatial analytics, and then analyze everything at scale in a high-performance Azure cloud environment.”

Running Alteryx Designer as a virtual machine deployed on Azure empowers analysts to utilize the strength of Alteryx Designer’s self-service data analytics capabilities. In addition, analysts will also have instant access to pre-configured workflow samples for Alteryx and Power BI.

“We have seen a growing number of analysts using Power BI take to advantage of the self-service analytics approach by Alteryx,” said James Phillips, Corporate Vice President of the business applications, platform and intelligence (BAPI) organization at Microsoft. “Now, many more users can accelerate their time to insight combining Alteryx and the Microsoft Azure platform for added scalability and performance in the cloud.”

Utilizing Alteryx Designer, data analysts are able to build out a scalable workflow to automate data blending and preparation, including orchestrating in-database analytics in SQL Server without having to know how to code. Users can deliver enterprise-scale predictive analytics utilizing Microsoft Revolution R, as well as harness Microsoft Azure Machine Learning to perform text analytics in analytic workflows using a simple drag and drop interface. Again, data analysts can also access Alteryx Designer as a virtual machine and utilize the Azure cloud platform to provide added performance with instant provisioning to enable usage anytime, anywhere. In order to utilize Alteryx on Azure Marketplace, users can bring their own Alteryx Designer license or obtain a free trial license for use.

The overall relationship between Alteryx and Microsoft offers deep integration between Alteryx Analytics and SQL Server 2014 (also SQL Server 2012 and SQL Server 2008), and in late 2015 the two companies announced Alteryx integration with Microsoft Power BI and the agreement to work on enabling future collaboration between Alteryx Analytics and other Microsoft analytics products, including many of the components of Azure and the Cortana Analytics Suite.

At this week’s Microsoft Data Insights Summit, come visit the Alteryx booth or attend one of our two lunch lab sessions to learn more about how Alteryx works with Microsoft Power BI. The two Alteryx sessions will be offered March 22 at 12 p.m. or March 23 at 12:30 p.m. in the Larch Room on the third floor of the Hyatt Regency Bellevue.
