Make Analytics Music with Mongo for Gallery Usage Metrics

Thu, Jun 13: 8:00am - 8:45am (45 Min) | Presidential Ballroom C,E

The Server Usage Report downloaded from the Licensing Portal is a treasure trove of information for Server usage, but sometimes you just want something short and sweet with minimal overhead. In this session, learn how to use the Mongo tools in a scheduled module to pull and store Gallery App usage information including app name, run length, run end time, user, and user entered app interface values. After all, it’s important to pull app results often when users can delete their app results or you have your Server set to erase app results on a regular cadence like every 30 days. See how to use a low overhead module that runs every 5 minutes where results can even be queried. Expect to discover powerful results including an on-demand report run in the Gallery that will compile app information for apps that have run in a consolidated way.

Taming a Blizzard of Spatial Data: American Dairy Queen’s Alteryx Success

Thu, Jun 13: 8:00am - 8:45am (45 Min) | Governor's Ballroom A,E

American Dairy Queen originally licensed Alteryx for a single, specific project. While exploring the capabilities of the software, we applied the Spatial tools to determine which of our vendors were closest to each of our locations. Converting the procedure to an Alteryx workflow changed a 4-person, 41,000-hour process into a single, repeatable workflow (the most current and optimized version of this workflow takes about 20 minutes to run). The time and resource savings were so considerable that it justified keeping Alteryx, even though this application was not a part of the original project! Since then, we have added many use cases and continue to optimize our current workflows. Join to hear about two of American Dairy Queen’s spatial use cases - vendor proximity and competitor duplication - and learn how their workflow building process has evolved.

At Johnson & Johnson, health care compliance training is not just something we talk about; it is a fundamental element of our compliance program. Ensuring we are meeting targets is a key success goal for the organization. Historically this effort was hampered by timely access to training data, complicated by irregular data collection and non-standard data fields. These issues led to lengthy reporting cycles, stale data and delays in meeting compliance goals. Learn how we created a comprehensive end-to-end approach to target, track and provide transparency into annual compliance training. Using Alteryx Designer and Server and Tableau, we have eliminated the fragmented and manual process, which took days per Health Care Compliance Office (HCCO) to produce a report. It is now centralized, automated and instantly available reporting process. Hot in Here: Examining 100M Temperature Readings to Understand Global Warming

Thu, Jun 13: 10:00am - 10:45am (45 Min) | Presidential Ballroom C,E

For the past 4 years, Alteryx and Tableau have been used to process and visualize global climate data. Many different descriptive analytical approaches were combined with interactive visualizations to examine the observed climate changes that have happened over time. This work was conducted to gain a better visual and quantitative understanding of global climate changes that have occurred. During this presentation, a new component of this work will be explained. Machine learning applications using Google Tensorflow or other R-based machine learning tools will be demonstrated that attempt to predict future temperature distributions at weather stations around the world. The goal of the presentation is to examine the ability of machine learning techniques to approximate future global climate changes. Video recordings of the Alteryx workflows that prepare the data for machine learning ingestion will be made available.

How Trane Uses Alteryx to Accelerate Algorithm Development in Nexia Diagnostics

Thu, Jun 13: 10:00am - 10:45am (45 Min) | Presidential Ballroom A

Troubleshooting issues with an air conditioner is hard. Few people understand how an air conditioner works or what to do when things go wrong. Fortunately, the engineers at Trane, an Ingersoll Rand company, are experts in this matter. Unfortunately, these engineers have the challenge of capturing and relaying that expertise to their network of dealers and technicians in the field. Alteryx allows these engineers to 1) Put their knowledge into repeatable algorithms that can be applied across the entire customer base and 2) Interact directly with big-data datasets in a way that encourages innovation and novel approaches to problem-solving. Rather than be crippled by the time-intensive back-and-forth between engineers and software developers, Alteryx allows the engineers to interact directly with big data and deliver functionality to customers in real time. The team has demonstrated a 20x improvement in time to value with Alteryx.

IU Online + Alteryx: Prospect to Applicant Analytics Made Possible

Thu, Jun 13: 10:00am - 10:45am (45 Min) | Governor's Ballroom A,E

At Indiana University, calculating marketing yield means connecting student “request for information” data from our Salesforce CRM to the university’s Student Information System to determine if a prospect has applied, was admitted, and eventually enrolled. Extracting, cleaning, and joining this disparate data manually is a tedious process. Join us in this session to learn how IU Online’s first Alteryx workflow reduced our prospect-to-applicant analytics process from 5 hours to 5 minutes, improved our confidence in the yield results, and started some great conversations about the future of marketing analytics across the university. We will also discuss additional student success metrics and where we plan to take Alteryx next on our higher ed journey.
