Supported Connection Types

You can create the following types of connections from Alteryx Analytics Cloud (AAC). You can use the given links to create connection.

Create Connection

  1. Select Connections from the top navigation bar.

  2. On the Connections page, select Create Connection.

Actions:

Search: Enter a search string in the search bar to locate connections of interest.

Tip

Search scans the selected category. For broadest search results, select the All types tab.

Tip

You can create connections to datasources hosted on Amazon RDS. Search for Amazon RDS for the available connection types, or select the Amazon RDS version of the connection type of interest. Required configuration information is very similar.

Early Preview: Early Preview connections are read-only connection types that get you connected to your data, so that you can begin exploring and importing as soon as possible. For more information, go to Early Preview Connection Types.

Applications

Connect to data storage for your web-based applications.

CRM ERP

These connections enable you to access data in your CRM or ERP systems.

Databases

General relational connectivity:

Relational connectivity is available for the following product editions:

Note

Availability of individual connection types may vary. Please see the documentation for the specific connection type for details.

These connections pertain to relational database sources.

Note

Unless otherwise noted, authentication to a relational connection requires basic authentication (username/password) credentials.

If you are connecting AAC to any relational source of data, such as Redshift or Oracle, you must add the Alteryx Service to your allowlist for those resources.

Note

The database to which you are connecting must be available from the Alteryx service over the public Internet.

Tip

Click the Amazon RDS version of a connection type to create a connection to your Amazon RDS instance of the selected database.

File-API

You can create connections to the listed file-based datastores or to other API-based storage.

Marketing

You can create connections to the datastores for popular marketing solutions.

Connections to Base Storage Layer

Connections of these type are automatically created for you.

Amazon S3 (layer)

This connection type refers to using S3 as the base storage layer.

A single public connection to ADS is supported.
