For the purposes of this Policy, “personal information” (also called “personal data”) includes any data that can be attributed to you, whether directly or indirectly. This data includes contact and demographic information that may identify you directly (such as when you submit a registration form), content that can be attributed to you (such as comments, posts, or workflows you publish to the Sites or Services), and data related to how and when you use the Websites and Platform (also called “Usage Data” as described below). We collect personal information from you when you use or interact with our Websites or Platform, some of which we collect automatically. Personal information we collect may include the following types of information:

In order to use the Websites and Platform, you may be required to provide certain personal information to Alteryx. For example, when you register a user account with Alteryx or activate a trial license, you are required to provide a valid email address and may need to choose a username and password. When you send us a message or register for an event, you may be required to provide us with your complete real name, business contact details, job role or title, country, and company name. The personal information requested in such cases, as well as any associated transactional and correspondence data, enables Alteryx to respond to your inquiries, deliver services you request, and to secure your use of our Websites and Platform.
You may choose to provide us with personal information through your use of our Websites and Platform, such as when you participate in the Maveryx Community as we describe below. In addition, you may provide us with demographic and interest-based data as part of your voluntary participation in surveys, beta and UX testing, and in providing feedback. Unless otherwise noted at the time of collection, optional personal information may be stored together with other data we hold about you for the business purposes outlined in this Policy.
If you link to Alteryx accounts or content on third-party social networking sites, we may receive information such as your name, username or display name, public profile, and email address. If you attend events or subscribe to publications for which we are sponsors, speakers, or content providers, we may receive your contact information directly from the event or publication owner.
When you use our Websites or Platform, personal information may be collected using Cookies, as further outlined below and in our Cookie Notice. We may engage third parties to assist us in understanding how our Websites and Platform are being used and may record format or monitor interactions (such as clicks and pages visited). We may also provide an optional chat service on our Website and Platform to assist you. These chat services may be operated or interact with third parties, and interactions with these chat services may be recorded for quality assurance purposes, and to improve engagement with our Websites and Platform users.
From time to time, we may receive information about you from third-party sources. The types of information we receive from third parties and how we use this information help to make interaction with our Websites and Platform easy and more meaningful (such as to permit you to share articles with your social media contacts), and to maintain and improve the accuracy of the records we hold about you (like keeping your title and company name current). To the extent we are permitted to send you content, recommendations or offers, we may use information obtained from third parties to tailor our communications with you.
The terms “sensitive data” or “special categories of personal data” refer to specific, defined categories of personal information identified by data privacy laws as requiring special treatment. These categories include data like racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, and religious, philosophical or other similar beliefs. Alteryx generally does not seek to collect any sensitive data as part of its Websites and Platform. In the limited circumstances where we collect such data, we will do so only where required by law or with your explicit consent.

Where we collect sensitive information or sensitive categories of personal information from you, we will do so with your explicit consent or where we have an obligation under applicable law to process that information.
In most cases, Alteryx relies upon legitimate interests when processing your personal information. When we rely upon your consent, we will request express consent prior to processing your personal information for that specified purpose and you may withdraw your consent at any time. However, withdrawing of consent for any use case will not affect the lawfulness of our processing prior to your withdrawal or processing performed on another lawful basis.

We make available Alteryx’s Maveryx Community on our Websites where you can register and access a range of curated resources dedicated to the Platform and data analytics in general, including blogs, forums and chat where users and Alteryx share insights, collaborate with peers, create solutions to complex analytical and data-science challenges, and share their experiences related to the Platform. When you participate in the Maveryx Community, you may provide personal information, including when you post comments or other content or when you include optional profile or demographic data as part of your Alteryx accounts, including, but not limited to, username, profile photo or avatar, links to a social media account, education or training background, and your preferences and interests.
Any personal information you submit to the Maveryx Community may be read, collected, or used by other users who visit the Forum. Please understand that Alteryx is not responsible for any use or disclosure of the personal information in your posts or during any other communication with other users. You must carefully evaluate, and bear the risk associated with, the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of the information shared with the Maveryx Community. We do not pre-screen postings to the Maveryx Community and reserve the right to remove any content posted.
Alteryx may use users’ posts and contributions to the Maveryx Community for our internal analytics purposes, and to improve the quality and relevance of our Websites and Platform. We also use this information to understand what other functionality and services may be of use to our user community and to corporate customers, and to better inform our marketing communications to them.
You may access publicly posted content on Alteryx Maveryx Community without logging in, but full functionality (including the ability to post comments or send messages to other users) requires registration through My Alteryx SSO. Registration data includes basic contact information and requires the creation of a unique username and password.
To the extent you register for Alteryx Maveryx Community using your business email address, your employer may be able to view certain limited information about the Alteryx products you use, training activities you complete and your Alteryx certification status.
“Usage Data” is telemetry and metadata about our Platform that we use to monitor product performance, help us pinpoint the sources or causes of product-related issues when providing support and troubleshooting, and to ensure compliance with our agreements and terms of use. When you use our Websites and Platform, we may automatically collect certain types of Usage Data, based on the product and product version used, including: registered email address or username, IP address, device type and device ID, network ID, machine host name, internal persistent identifier, country or postal code, language preference and browser or operating system settings, and logs that include time stamp and type of actions taken when you interact with our Websites or Platform (e.g., specific tools used and how often, number of workflows saved (but not the content of any workflows), names of custom tools, search terms).
This information is primarily used for core business operations, such as ensuring compliance with export laws, for license fulfillment purposes, and to administer our Websites and Platform. We also use this information for internal analytics purposes to improve the quality and relevance of our Websites and Platform, to understand what other functionality and services may be of use to our customers and users, and to better inform our marketing communications.
If you are using software or services licensed to another person or company, such as your employer, we may disclose personal information related to that licensee, such as your name and email address, in order to ensure the secure, valid and authorized use of the license.
Our website and cloud platforms use certain tags, log files, web beacons, and similar trackers from third parties (collectively, “Cookies“). Cookies are small data files stored on your hard drive or in device memory that help us to, among other things, improve the services and your experience. Web beacons are clear, electronic images that may be used on the services or in our e-mails and help deliver cookies, count visits, understand usage and campaign effectiveness and determine if an email has been opened and acted upon.
We use cookies and similar tracking technology (collectively, “Cookies”) to collect and use personal information about you, including to serve interest-based advertising. Our Websites and Platform may contain links to other websites, including those of our partners and sponsors, whose information practices may be different from ours. We may facilitate third party services or ways to share data through third parties, including social media platforms, websites, applications, and services through plug-ins, widgets, buttons, and other third party features on and connected with our Websites or Platform. Once you leave our Websites or Platform, please understand that the privacy policies or notices of the websites you are entering will apply and our policy will no longer apply to your activities on these third-party websites. Certain widgets and apps of third parties may collect and process your personal information for their own purposes when you engage with them. If you use our Platform to connect to other resources by way of an API provided by a third party, such as when you use a Connector in Alteryx Designer, your terms and conditions with that third party apply, including the privacy and data protection terms and conditions. We do not accept responsibility for the data practices of third parties where they are acting on their own behalf, and not at Alteryx’s request.
We do not sell your personal information. We also do not share your personal information with third parties for purposes of targeted or cross-contextual behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under applicable privacy laws.
We may share personal information for our business or operational purposes to the extent reasonably necessary and proportionate to achieve the business or operational purpose for which the personal information was collected or processed, or for other purposes that are compatible with the original purpose. You will not be subject to decisions that will have a material impact on you based solely on automated decision-making. There will always be human intervention into decisions based on such automated processing. If this position changes, or there is a need and lawful basis to do so, we will inform you in advance of such automated decision-making.
We do not use Google Workspace APIs to develop, improve, or train generalized AI and/or Machine Learning models. The use of information that we receive from Google Workspace APIs will adhere to the Google User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Our services/products are not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect, use, or disclose personal data from children under 13. While specific academic offerings may be made available to persons under the age of 16, users in these programs may be registered only with verifiable parental consent. If you are in a jurisdiction that requires parental consent higher than 16, then we will apply that higher age.
We seek to protect personal information using technical and organizational measures based on the type of personal information and applicable processing activity. We are committed to minimizing personal information collection to the information that is necessary for some defined purpose. When customers use our cloud products, we may provide them with the ability to upload and store their data (“Cloud Content”) in a cloud storage service (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure) that we provide for them. Customers use this cloud workspace when they run workflows using our cloud products. We don’t access that space in a manner that we can determine whether your personal data is present.
