Alteryx and Teradata Deliver Analytics to Line of Business Users

New partnership drives business analytics with Teradata and Teradata Aster

Irvine, Calif., October 16, 2012 – Alteryx, Inc., the leading provider of Strategic and Big Data Analytics software, announced today a partnership with Teradata (NYSE: TDC), the analytic data solutions company, to deliver analytics encompassing multi-structured and structured data types.  With this new partnership, Alteryx announced an update to its Alteryx Strategic Analytics 8.0 platform, available now, that includes native, high-performance support for Teradata.  Now business analysts can create their own analytic applications using Alteryx with Teradata and Teradata Aster.

In today’s dynamic business environment, analysts in the lines of business need to rapidly make sense of all the relevant data to make faster, more accurate strategic decisions.  This drives the need to quickly and easily perform sophisticated analytics, such as predictive and spatial analytics, on both traditional structured data and emergent multi-structured data – all without knowing SQL or R programming. The power of Teradata and Teradata Aster, combined with the speed and agility of the Alteryx Strategic Analytics platform, provides users with full analytics lifecycle – from transforming, enriching and loading data to designing analytic workflows and putting easy-to-use analytic apps in the hands of line-of-business users.

“Alteryx has developed a unique tool that can help organizations more rapidly develop and deploy analytic processes. The Alteryx Designer Desktop allows an analyst to build a single, cohesive analytic process that may touch a variety of data sources and toolsets. In addition to allowing a process to execute, Alteryx makes it easy to place the process inside an easy-to-use front-end that others can access through the web. In this way, new analytics found through the discovery process can be more rapidly deployed, which speeds the time to value,” explained Scott Collins, vice president for global alliances, Teradata.

Alteryx Strategic Analytics enables business analysts to rapidly integrate, prepare, analyze, and share data with business users through analytic applications published to the Alteryx Analytics Gallery or a private cloud.  In this way, Alteryx consumerizes big data by making the Alteryx Analytics Gallery as easy to use as consumer web and social sites. As a result, line of business analysts can gain insight to support their most strategic decisions seamlessly, without burdening IT.

“With Alteryx, it’s about analyzing all of the relevant data and delivering time to value by enabling the business analyst to share their analytic insights, while Teradata offers some of the most powerful analytical processing capabilities used by many of the world’s most dynamic organizations,” said Dean Stoecker, chairman and chief executive officer, Alteryx.  “We see Alteryx support of both Teradata and Aster, separately or in conjunction with one another, as a natural extension of our core value, enabling business and data analysts to leverage these powerful engines and the rich data available within an IT supported infrastructure.”

Clients are realizing immediate value provided by integrating Alteryx and Teradata.  TBC Corporation, a private company with over 2,700 company and franchise-owned automotive service centers and a joint Alteryx and Teradata customer, was quite pleased.   “Once we connected Alteryx to our Teradata environment we were able to integrate, validate, and analyze key enterprise data with tremendous speed and agility,” said Eric M. Hunter, Director of Strategic Analytics and Business Intelligence, TBC Corporation. “The ability to analyze large data sets in Teradata and across disparate platforms with Alteryx presents us with flexibility and agility we believe is unique to the Alteryx platform.  The combined capabilities we have spanning Teradata and Alteryx are extremely powerful from an analytics perspective and we look forward to increased capabilities between these two platforms.”

As a platinum sponsor of the 2012 Teradata PARTNERS User Group Conference & Expo, October 21 – 25, Alteryx will be demonstrating how Strategic Analytics can help organizations make sense of and use the analytical capabilities of the Teradata relational database management system, Teradata Aster, and Hadoop.  Rick Schultz, senior vice president, and Jim Schattin, director, both of Alteryx, will jointly deliver a session called “Humanizing Big Data with Analytic Applications ” on Monday, October 22 at 11:30 a.m. ET.
